Is true that chess can improve your programming skills?

I read in several times that playing chess improves logic , math skills as well as programming skills. Do you believe that by programming very often(like an habit) it becomes like chess intuitive? Thanks for your time.|||No, but programming a chess game does.|||Programming involves alot of if's and or's. I'm guessing that if you learn how to expect an outcome, or know what happens if you make a move. Then it could.

I do believe however, the best way to improve your programming skills, is to actually program something in that language. Therefore, you could use Chess as an aid to improve your skills, but thats as far as I'm guessing it should go.|||Chess will get you thinking like a programmer. But programming will do this better.
