Chess?!?!?!??!?!??!?!?!!?!?

in chess, if you only have a king, but the other player has a king and queen what happens... there is no way that the other player can check mate me, but there is no way i can check mate him... does he win? or is it a draw???|||If the game is such that the queen does not get captured on the next move, and

if the game is such that it is not already finished due to stalemate or checkmate ...

does he win? or is it a draw??? The answer to each of your questions is "no".

The game is not over. He has not won yet. You might even draw against a beginner.

If you only have a king, but the other player has a king and queen; then it is

a simple matter to checkmate with a king and a queen against a lone king.|||Actually, your friend can win still. All he has to do is trap your king with his queen (your king cannot get into a position to capture your queen) and walk his king down the board to where your king and his queen are and corner you. The easiest way to do it is to keep cutting off the area you can go. If you are in the center, just cut off about 1/3 to 1/2 the board and don't touch his queen again until you get deeper into the territory that you have open, then do it again, and again, and again until you are stuck between 2-3 squares and you can only move that many spaces. Then he just walks his king until it can protect his queen for the checkmate.

Edit:

I forgot to mention, he should not position his queen to check you unless it is protected by the king. In other words, you have no way of winning, the best possible outcome for you is a stalemate.|||He can definitely checkmate you when he has a king+queen and you have a lone king. But you are right there is no way you can checkmate him. So yes he can win if he knows how to checkmate you . If he is unable to checkmate you (because of him not knowing the technique) it could result in a draw.

Although , I wouldn't say it is basic chess (like some people have said), because a beginner ( one who has not studied chess and doesn't know this technique) will just keep on giving checks to the lone king and everytime the lone king can escape. To checkmate in such circumstances the player will also have to involve his king and basically has to limit the squares your king can move to. It is not a difficult thing to master.

Watch this video on how you can do it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3SVorXyx鈥?/a>|||Your friend can still win! it can be hard and time consuming, most people find it hard and call it a stalemate but this is how to do it simply.

Position your queen within striking distance of your opponents king. The safest and most effective way to do this is to place the queen a knight's move away. The knight moves in an L shape, so place the queen one square away on the outer axis and two squares away on the other. The direction the L points does not matter.

Maintain the L shape. As the enemy king moves, move your queen to keep the L shape distance in tact. For example, if the king moves one square to the left, move your queen one square to the left.

Make an adjustment when your queen gets to the edge of the board. Your opponent may try to avoid checkmate by moving to the edge of the board. If this happens, simply move two spaces back toward the center of the board to form a new L shape.

Trap the king. Eventually, the king will be on the very edge of the board. When this happens, move the queen to a place which restricts the king to only moving on the edge row of the board.

Move in your king for backup. Once you have the enemy king restricted to one row of the board, move your king next to your queen. Checkmate the enemy king with your queen, using your king as protection.|||you can practice common endgames against the computer on this site:

such as King Vs King + Queen|||Yep, it's a basic mate. It should be checkmate in 9 moves at the most (no matter what the position).|||Google matrix chess|||king - king/queen

this is BASIC chess %26amp; a 100% mate

i suggest somebody teach you how to play|||what i do is play again and who wins gets both wins or it is a draw.|||It's a draw. Usually, you draw earlier until it comes to that point.
