I have my chess tournament soon and it is the semi-finals. My opponent is very strong and I think that he already has a tactic. Please tell me the best opening or some moves that would help me win. (No Fool's Mate or the 4 move). Thanks!|||Try an opening variation that is unfamiliar to your opponent. If White, try d4 openings. If Black, try King's Indian Defense when opponent tries d4, and Sicilian Defense if White plays e4. However, you have to do your homework as your opponent may know the response and you don't know how to counter it. I suggest reading a book on openings. I like Ruy Lopez as White, and Sicilian Defense as Black.|||Use an opening with which you have studied and know the strongest moves and counters. It may just be one that your opponent is not good with. Only you know which one that is.
Long before a tourney you should select and study a couple openings that are safe but not common. Your opponent will find himself in unfamiliar territory and make mistakes. Learn the common mistakes others make with it and the opportunities it gives you.
.|||There is no such thing. If there were every Grandmaster would play it all the time. You need to learn the basic principle behind all openings. That is development of your pieces, which in other words is to increase your sides total mobility from the restricted starting position. Memorizing openings is only for Masters to save time on the clock %26amp; to avoid prepared variations.|||you dont need tactics just go for the right move and avoid being close or in harms way of the opponent i always win doing that. Just try and promote your pawns when there aren't many pieces left.|||Just go for a rare opening but still a good advantage to you (Scotch opening maybe) then since that person doesn't know much about it you can be better off.|||Sorry for not answering your question but every strong start has a move by opponent that would sabotage their plans.|||wow, you actually made it to the semi-finals !!....good job !!
...unfortunately ??....there are no secret winning moves|||KP to KP3.
